Cascade Creek – Milford Sound – Moeraki – Hampden
Heute sind wir besonders früh aufgestanden, um gleich nach Milford Sound zu fahren. Glücklicherweise haben die Milliarden Sandfliegen auch noch geschlafen, so dass wir relativ unbehelligt das Zelt Mitten im Wald abbauen und noch vor 7 Uhr abhauen konnten.
Da dies bei Weitem nicht meine Zeit zum Wachwerden war, habe ich zumindest noch ein wenig auf dem Beifahrersitz dösen können. Allerdings nicht lange, da uns das vor uns liegende Fjord sofort wieder in den Bann sog. In Milford Sound angekommen, waren wir sprachlos. Nicht nur von dieser grandiosen Kulisse um uns herum, auch vom Wetter. Meist liegt Milford Sound im tiefen Nebel oder es regnet, wir hatten eine der seltenen Tage erwischt, an dem die Sonne schien. Und nicht nur das, es war ein strahlend blauer Himmel, kaum eine Wolke war zu sehen. Das Panorama direkt an der Bucht ist unbeschreiblich. Nach der ersten Photo-session sind wir erstmal in das Cafe und haben uns einen heißen Café gegönnt, natürlich in Liegesofas mit den Ausblick auf das Fjord.
Nach einem Abstecher zu der Milford Sound Lodge, in der wir 2007 ein paar tolle Momente erlebt haben, sind wir weiter an die Ostküste gefahren, über 500 km an einem Stück. Wir wollten uns möglichst nahe an Christchurch, unserem Flughafen nach Deutschland, an der Küste niederlassen.
Stopp gemacht haben wir dann nahe den Moeraki Boulders, an einem super idyllischen Campingplatz, der von dem Eigentümer charmant und mit viel Liebe zum Detail geführt wurde. Die Widmungen an der Küchenwand sprechen eine eindeutige Sprache. An der Seite zum Meer lag der örtliche Friedhof, direkt am Campingplatz angrenzend, was Oli total begeistert hat. Nach einem letzten Kaffee, den ich auf der Terrasse in einem Schaukelstuhl genossen habe, sind wir dann bei Sonnenuntergang wieder einmal sehr früh ins Zelt.Related: tiedtke house toledo, cancel
